Biography
Ian Rennie was born in Hollingworth, England, in 1978. He grew up in Rochdale, Lancashire, in a house where books and reading were as central as eating and sleeping. His father, Stephen Rennie, possessed a private collection of several thousand science fiction novels which grew constantly throughout Ian's childhood. His mother, Mary Rennie, had a degree in English Literature, a path Ian himself would follow later in life.
Ian had written poetry and short stories from an early age, but it was not until he began attending the University of York that his love of writing blossomed. While at York he wrote two plays, co-wrote a third, and directed all of them as part of the University's Drama Society. While at university, he also worked on poetry and music, singing in a band and taking part in plays, poetry readings and other such endeavors. He also wrote the script for a web-published graphic novel titled Assassin with noted Argentinian artist Jorge Tarruella
In 2002, Ian emigrated to the United States, eventually settling in North Carolina, where in 2004 he started work as a librarian and started writing his first novel, "Household Gods". Since then he has been working on several novels, taking part in National Novel Writing Month three times, and writing science fiction and fantasy short stories. Lately, he has been experimenting with ultra-short "flash fiction" stories of 600 words or less, having several published by the online magazine "365 Tomorrows".
Ian currently lives in Cornelius, North Carolina, with his wife Aja and their two terrible, terrible cats.
